Peacocks are the male members of the peafowl species, recognized for their vibrant, iridescent blue or green plumage and the large, fan-like tail train of feathers adorned with eye-like spots, which they use for courtship displays. Female peafowl, or peahens, are smaller and have duller, mottled brown and green coloring, lacking the male's prominent train. Both sexes are large birds belonging to the pheasant family, and they are omnivores, feeding on plants, grains, insects, and small creatures.
